ok, a summary

so we've had two bouts (one home and one away) and we lost them both.  we are not a jammer-heavy team, and lost one of our better ones in the second half of the home bout (it was about eleventy billion degrees in our venue and she got heat exhaustion), and then our away bout was, well, our second bout against a WFTDA apprentice team.  Um, yeah, we really had a chance.

when I first told my mom that I was going to play roller derby, she freaked.  A lot.  My sister had to call her and tell her that it would be okay.

By the end, I'd go and visit her in the hospital, and people would come up to me and say "so are you the daughter who plays roller derby?"

Bye, Queen Mum.  I'll miss you and love you forever.

so even though my goal was to have as little administrative/bout production work to do on this bout as possible, I keep finding myself taking stuff on.  (For example - our Ticket Bitch had complications in her life, so I took over that.  Then our Community Outreach contact needed to get door prizes, so I helped out with that.  Then there's the general money issues, since I'm Treasurer and all that about which I need to concern myself.)

It's entirely my fault that I have so much on my plate - my general philosophy is "if you want something done to your satisfaction, you have to do it yourself."  At some point I will learn that it's okay to release the reins a little bit.

In other news, I'd like to wish a happy birthday to the inspiration behind 691 - Maverick is nine today.  Happy birthday, dude!

hm, it's been a while

lo siento.

Anyway, let's see.  WE'VE GOT A BOUT ON SATURDAY HOLY CRAP.  This week is going to be spent working with our lineups, and keeping my fingers crossed that one of our really good players makes her attendance.  (She has to make eight practices.  As of this morning, she's made six.  There are two practices left. STRESS.)

I have been itching to play for SO LONG NOW.  My last bout was in NOVEMBER, people.
